Think of this as more of a tribute and overview rather than an advertisement. Neither I, nor DigiMantis is being paid for this post. I just happen to be a big fan!
Internet Browser Wars Pt. 2: Comparing the Majors
WARNING: Massive wall of text.
It’s about time that I got up and did part 2 of the browser wars right? I’m going to skip the small talk and get to the point. Please note that anything opinionated I say are strictly opinions based on my own experience. Part 3 will be covering the more obscure browsers that not as many people know about.
Let’s start with Apple Safari. While it seems to be okay on Mac OSX, Safari falls flat on its face for Windows. No special features aside from RSS. Dated interface included as well. Only cool thing is the flashy speed dial. A huge problem with Safari is the multiple vulnerabilities that the Windows version possesses. It has local and remote exploits, heat and buffer overflow, if you open up a tab sometimes it parses incorrectly due to faulty coding, multiple errors when handling FTP info, which allows for multiple XSS and XSRF vulnerabilities. For more information about the security issues of Safari, please comment below addressing ‘Viral Dragon’ as he is the guy who specializes in internet security. I will give it points for being fairly fast, though not the fastest by any means. RAM usage doesn’t seem to be terrible either, but other than that, I say Safari is a no-go.
London After Midnight
Here’s a band that not many people may know of: London After Midnight. Their lyrical content contains a lot of vampiric ideas, and the music itself is just brilliant in my opinion.
Sanctus Real – Say It Loud
I love this song. I figured I’d allow a peek into the kind of music I like.
Dreams Just Changed…
Okay, so those that know me, know that I’ve been having some pretty bad nightmares on a daily basis and keep waking up at 4-5AM-ish for a while now (feels like years, but I’m sure it’s been for months at least)… Today, it was QUITE different, so I’m going to start recording my dreams.
I was at a place like a tourist attraction (somewhere I’ve never been), with lots of souvenir shops, almost like maybe a theme park. I was with someone (not on a date) and through playing pinball, hit the jackpot. Then we went to pick out what we wanted to take home. Read more for the rest, and tell me what you think is going on. I’m stumped for a change!!!
Review: Hori Fighting Stick 3
Recently, I’ve been in an arcade craze. Yes, I do play modern games here and there, but I just don’t have the time or patience for alot of them these days, as I have more important things to do. I’m much more of a pick up and play kind of guy, so in result, I LOVE arcade (or arcade style) games. Ever since I was little, my favorite genre has always been fighting. However, it wasn’t until a few days ago that I decided to go for an authentic way to control these fighting games that I love so much. Having that said, I’m never going back to a regular controller again. Why you ask? While a standard PS3 controller, XBox 360 controller, or even after market controllers for whatever console may be alright for most applications, they are simply not what fighting games were designed for. Fighting games are meant to be played on an arcade stick, and an arcade machine is what 90% of them originate from.
Below is a picture of the stick. If you’d like to know about the actual size of it, the width is about 5/6’s of the size of a standard computer keyboard. Below that is an example of an actual arcade machine. As you can see in comparison, the stick and button layout on the FS3 are almost identical to an actual machine. Read the rest of this entry »
