Review: Blacklight Tango Down (PC)
As we all know, there are a slew of online first person shooters out there to play, both free and paid. Well, we’ve recently got another one on our hands called Blacklight: Tango Down. The big selling point of this game is that its price tag is at a mere $15 and can be bought from Games For Windows Live or Steam. In some cases (like mine) it’s even free. My copy of the game came free with the new XFX Radeon 5670 that I purchased. This is an online only title, and while it doesn’t do anything revolutionary with the genre since it was indeed a budget title, it’s worth a look for fans of the FPS genre.
First, the cons: When I had first got the game, I despised it. Why? Because there are no dedicated servers. Even for a $15 game, there should have been the option to have dedicated servers. It’s almost a waste of money in the long run if this feature isn’t added in the future, because not only are people more likely to stop playing since there is no real since of community, but the fact that you have to wait in a lobby to enter any game at all is very tedious. Before getting the latest update, it took literally 45 minutes to get anyone to join the lobby I was in, and when there were finally enough people, I got kicked from the game. Finally after getting the update, while I still had to wait in a lobby, the waiting time was only about 10 minutes tops, and if you’re lucky, you will join in a full lobby right off the bat. Still, there is no reason why there shouldn’t be dedicated servers.
New Host and Domain Name
Edit:By majority decision made by those who posted, we will soon transition to the FireMantis name.
KD0JEJ’s Weigh-In: Due to continuing DNS issues with the DigiMantis.com domain, and the downtime that would result from a domain transfer, we have decided that we are seeking a new web identity and a new web host that meets our requirements. We want you – our audience – to give us your opinions on the matter. Comment with your idea of a domain name. Guidelines for this domain name are below, so click Read More!
- Both the .com and .net has to be available for the name.
- Generally we want to stick with a zen theme, or describe what our site is about/what we want it to be about, and hopefully some relevance to the current name to maintain at least some of our identity.
- It cannot be offensive (PG-13), and it cannot be a brand name trademark that is already taken.
- We want it to be catchy, yet easy to be spread by word of mouth (admittedly, I’ve spelled “Digi” – Mantis out way too many times for me to count).
Heads Up: CPRS Calls and Debits..Fraud.
So, this debt collection company called CPRS (Certegy Payment Recovery Services) have been calling my cell phone nonstop every morning at around 8 or 9 AM for the past week or so. They call from 2-3 times every morning. This is annoying to me because I happen to stay up pretty late and I also wake up late, so I’m dead tired when they call in the morning and it’s not very smart to wake me up when I’ve had only 4 hours of sleep. You can’t simply tell them to stop calling because it’s a recorded message, though there have been reports of it being an actual person too trying to get information from their “clients” such as a bank routing number. When they call me, they either say something real quick that you can’t understand and then hang up, or they ask for a control number. Of course, I didn’t give them any information in the first place because I knew better, but the point is..it’s a scam. In some cases, they will have the nerve to falsely state that the client owes money (something like never paying a late fee on a movie at Blockbuster or something like that), as a way to trick them into giving information. Don’t deal with CPRS. If they call your phone, hang up and let your bank know about it. There have been reports of people having their bank information sold to other companies, and various reports of CPRS bouncing flurries of checks on bank accounts. This means that they can potentially steal money from you big time.
For more information about victims of CPRS, visit this link. There are various other pages that discuss the company, but that one stuck out to me the most. For even more reference, just search for them on Google. Their number is 1-800-873-5869. If you have a way to, block that number.
Random Dreams
My dreams are indeed..very random most of the time. Usually they consist of me just either talking to someone or doing something completely irrelevant to pretty much anything.
Last night I had 3 dreams. First, I dreamed that my cousin Shane and I were walking down the street of a really ghetto neighborhood, and a drunk, but tall and strong looking guy comes out and says “stupid mother f—–” to Shane and punches him in the face. Then he looks at me and he says “and that’s 3 wings you owe me” and attempted to hit me in the face, but I bob and weaved, dodging the punch and then I walked into the chicken wing place, got him one wing (for free somehow) and then walked off. After I said “That must have hurt” to Shane, I woke up.

So, yesterday, I was shopping around in thrift stores, pawn shops, etc. I intended on hopefully finding some Sega consoles for sale for cheap, and I was also hoping to maybe find a replacement Saturn. I didn’t find any of this, but I did find a few things worthwhile!
First store had some Genesis, Sega CD, and 32X games for sale. I decided to call my brother and have him look up the value of each game that I found. I thought that the Sega CD games would be worth something, since they were complete. Unfortunately, none of this stuff was worth anything, which is surprising because I thought Super Monaco GP or Aladdin would have been worth something. But, there were two that were! There was a complete in the box Star Wars Arcade for the Sega 32X which sells from around $15-$50. Just depending on the circumstances. I also got Jungle Strike for the Sega Genesis. Unfortunately, it wasn’t complete. It came with the original case, but no manual. Jungle Strike is actually not worth as much as I thought it would be. It only goes for $5-10 in the box. But that’s still okay. Why? Because I paid $1.25 for each of these games. Pocket change! And of course, I could resell these and make a little bit of profit. Not too much, but a significant amount.
But, that’s not all I got. Read the rest of this entry »
We’re Not Dead
Hey everyone. Wrath here, just checking in to let all our readers know that we are not dead; just busy. If any of you would like to see new content, become part of our community and give us some! We have big plans for DigiMantis, but as of right now, things in both my life, and in KD0JEJ’s life are interfering a bit with our work on DM.
Also, just a simple idea I thought of was to make the Discussion category a little more open, and a bit more simple. By this, I mean having people posting topics on here, similar to the thread to a typical forum. Any thoughts on this? Post comments below and let us know.
