Deadly Shooting at UAB
Source here: http://blog.al.com/breaking/2010/02/amy_bishop_biology_professor_a.html
There are many other news articles posted about this. For those of you who don’t know, a deadly shooting at the UAB of Huntsville, AL (or UAH) took place, and this is just a rundown of my thoughts on it. Three people were wounded and three were killed by college professor Amy Bishop. Amy Bishop is not only a college professor, but also a wife, and a mother of four children. How ridiculous, that someone let 42 years of their life go to waste. This is definitely something unexpected, and it’s kind of shocking when you think about it. Aren’t colleges supposed to be secure? I guess the faculty that were involved let their trust get the best of them.
We are photographers, not terrorists
It was a while back in 2008, that a photographer was formally stopped by the police for enjoying his hobby. Police assume that if someone is taking photos with a professional camera, somewhere that isn’t really a top spot for photography, is trying to take photographs of children, terrorist activity or to invade someones privacy. Recently, the cheif Chief of Police have sent messages to all Police Staff saying that it is not against the law.
Section 44 gives officers no specific powers in relation to photography and there is no provision in law for the confiscation of equipment or the destruction of images, either digital or on film.
Grant Smith of London:
“My camera bag was searched for terrorist related paraphernalia (notebooks and maps I assume), despite my lame protestations.
ABC Bashes Chris Pirillo
If there are any tech geeks out there, I am sure you guys know who Chris Pirillo is. The former host of the Tech TV show, “A Call For Help”. He is a well respected professional blogger, and I myself, being a fan of his work, found this pretty ridiculous. Take a look at this video. I don’t have to say much. This is pretty self explanitory.
