In a Safe Place, Album Leaf – review
I’m currently listening to an album by the Album Leaf called “In a safe place”. This music is quite amazing actually, it’s what I like – Post Rock. You may have seen a previous review of mine on a Red Sparowes album. Again, if you don’t know what Post Rock is, it’s deep bass, violins, cellos, sometimes heavy guitar and melodic solos, piano, sometimes vocals and it for sure has a lot of emotion. This particular album features Jónsi, the vocalist from the Icelandic post rock band Sigur Rós, his high and smooth vocals are so unique, you wouldn’t find them in any other music.
This album is a compilation of 10 tracks, all different. My personal favourites are Over the Pond and Twenty Two Fourteen. It’s quite indescribable how much power Twenty Two Fourteen has, it doesn’t make me feel sad, but it has the power to make me feel like I want to cry, it’s odd. This music just makes me think about my life and how it is, just puts me in a weird mood where all I want to do is describe things and write. This bands music has been beautifully organised and structured, put together so perfectly and carefully, it’s just a sweet, sweet sound to my ears, a sound that could not be achieved with any other music. Others may describe this music as boring and lifeless, but to me it’s the complete opposite.
