Damaster4u Reviews: Sonic Adventure (Dreamcast)

[Redacted by KD0JEJ] Sonic the hedgehog! Just hearing that name make me want to go outside and run all the way to Saskatoon! (Surprise! I live in Canada) When I was just a baby of 2 I was introduced to the world of sonic with his very first game ever, Sonic the hedgehog. I played the hell out of that game for a while until sonic 2 came out, and then I played the hell out of that one. Then sonic 3, sonic 3D blast, sonic and knuckles, S3&K, You name it I have played it. So as you can tell, I am a huge sonic fan. Now, back then I wasn’t aware that Sega had made the Dreamcast so instead I discovered Sonic Adventure DX on the gamecube. It wasn’t until later I found out it was a remake. Trust me I would go back in time and slap my younger self for not watching more TV and missing the commercials for Dreamcast. On to the game now. I have sonic adventure now, and I have beaten it fully.

Sonic adventure is on the top 5 on my list of favorite sonic games for a reason. Its fun, its fast, the music and sounds are perfect, and the game play is just downright awesome! While there are some things in the game that are bad, the good outweighs the bad totally. So I bet your wondering what I think is bad in this game. Well for one I don’t care much for the voice acting too much, not that it’s terrible, it’s just sometimes they say lines and it doesn’t really sound right to the setting that there in. Another think that is weird is that there faces are like play-doh most of the time. Like when sonic sees tail’s plane crash onto the beach and he says *look out tails, you’re going to crash! Ahhh!* Look at his face when he says Ahhh…I guess Eggman’s play-doh face laser really did work. Where was that sonic game?! 0_0

Damaster4u Reviews: Kao the kangaroo (Dreamcast)

Holy cow…this game is bad. I hate it so much. When i got the DC some time ago i knew what i was getting into. A great system with a line up of oh-so sweet games that i couldn’t wait to get my hands on…that was a few weeks ago of course and i still don’t regret buying it. With my DC i got over 100 games, some games and some emulators. The one game i remember seeing was kao the kangaroo and it caught my attention because it sounded like an adventure type of game, and i was right! Now then lets talk about the game itself.

So you put in the game and you start it up and what do you see…Titus…if anyone here knows this company they will know this is the same company that made Superman for the N64. (or Superman64 as people call it) Remember that crapfest? Anyone that i know that bought the game when they were younger said they hated it and wished it was never made, not to mention a few of my friends even burned it or tossed it in a sewer, one of my friends even buried it in the ground. Back to the game.

Bargain: I hit the Jackpot!

note: originally taken from Wrath Oskvro: Official Site

So, yesterday, I was shopping around in thrift stores, pawn shops, etc. I intended on hopefully finding some Sega consoles for sale for cheap, and I was also hoping to maybe find a replacement Saturn. I didn’t find any of this, but I did find a few things worthwhile!

First store had some Genesis, Sega CD, and 32X games for sale. I decided to call my brother and have him look up the value of each game that I found. I thought that the Sega CD games would be worth something, since they were complete. Unfortunately, none of this stuff was worth anything, which is surprising because I thought Super Monaco GP or Aladdin would have been worth something. But, there were two that were!  There was a complete in the box Star Wars Arcade for the Sega 32X which sells from around $15-$50. Just depending on the circumstances. I also got Jungle Strike for the Sega Genesis. Unfortunately, it wasn’t complete. It came with the original case, but no manual. Jungle Strike is actually not worth as much as I thought it would be. It only goes for $5-10 in the box. But that’s still okay. Why? Because I paid $1.25 for each of these games. Pocket change! And of course, I could resell these and make a little bit of profit. Not too much, but a significant amount.

But, that’s not all I got. Read the rest of this entry »

Retro Gaming Resurrection: An Idea

I’m sure everyone by now knows of the Virtual Console for the Wii, the Xbox Live Arcade, and Playstation Network, all with their selection of old titles from various retro systems. Surprisingly, the Wii’s Virtual Console even has Turbo Grafx 16 games, which is very odd (but awesome) considering it was never popular at all. Not only do you have those things available, but there are also older games constantly being remade. Mario, Link, and other various mascots from the 80s and 90s are still going strong as well. Why am I pointing these things out? Well, I think it’s about time that retro gaming makes a comeback.

Technically, it already has, but let’s look at the issue more in depth. First, we all know that over the years, games have gotten even deeper, more advanced, more time consuming, and more complicated to play than ever before. While this is happening, alot of people (including gamers) seem to be getting tired of today’s gaming experience for a few reasons. First, while we always have newcomers to gaming, most gamers are getting older and older, right? This means they don’t have the time to spend hours and hours on one game, especially when it may be some long RPG or something that has 40+ hours of gameplay. Not only that, but some of us are getting a bit lazier, and just want some good quick fun, and are ready for simplicity. The Wii has started to bring that simplicity back. I’m not speaking for all gamers of course, because obviously there are some who enjoy modern gaming just as much if not more than retro gaming, but there is still a huge market for retro gaming just because of the heart and soul that it always had, and the simplicity, and sheer fun behind it. There has always been a pick up and play nature with those types of games as well.

Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Videos

Sega fans, rejoice! What started off as “Project Needlemouse” now has the title of none other than “Sonic The Hedgehog 4″! This is something many Sonic and Sega fans have been waiting on for years. Many say ever since the Sonic Adventure games, all Sonic games after that have pretty much gone downhill. I don’t agree with that 100%, as I do love Sonic Advance and Sonic Rush, but I do agree these aren’t anywhere near the quality that the original series had.

With Sonic 4, there are new hopes for Sega in my eyes, not to mention the new arcade boards they’ve made: Ring Edge, and Ring Wide. But back to the issue here, there are now leaked videos of Sonic 4. I’m a little late on this, and I’m definitely not the first to find out, but I thought I’d share it with our viewers. The link to the leaked videos are below.

RadioSEGA – Sega Fans & Music Lovers Rejoice!

radiosega

Think of this as more of a tribute and overview rather than an advertisement. Neither I, nor DigiMantis is being paid for this post. I just happen to be a big fan! :)
